I'm Alexis. I'm a 23 year old Systems Analyst. I'm a recent college graduate where I graduated with an undergraduate degree of Health Management Systems, and a Minor in General Business. Health Management Systems? Yeah, I get that question a lot. Health Management Systems (or HMS) can be basically summed up to Heatlhcare, Business, and computers. I chose this degree because I basically had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I knew I was somewhat good with computers and I wanted to do something in healthcare-- other than that I had no idea. I ended up stumbling upon this degree. The major was a very versatile major-- basically you can do anything in any one of those fields.
When it came time to pick where I wanted to work, that kind of just fell into my lap too. I had volunteered and done 2 great internships so I had some connections there. I ended up being recruited to apply for 1 interview but 3 positions within my organization. One department liked me enough to give me a job and I am extremely thankful for that!
After graduating I knew I wanted to go back to school. In July and August I was really throwing around the idea of starting Graduate school. One day, on a whim I applied to grad school and got in. I was supposed to start classes in the Fall, but my sister was getting married so I decided to push that off to the "winter" term.
Blogging has never been my thing. I love reading blogs and I like to hear about how others are doing, but I don't classify myself as a good writer-- or creative in the writing department. I've had a few blogs in the past and I wasn't exactly thrilled at where they were going. I've decided to start this blog as the final attempt and see where it takes me.
Over the past few months I've been really trying to build up my blog and find the area of the blogging world that best fit me. I realized though that I don't blog to be anything specific. I blog to be me.
I didn't realized it at the time, but when I describe my blog to others I never really call it a weight loss blog-- I think because I'm just blogging for me. Weight loss is becoming a huge part of my life and I would probably classify my blog as a weight loss blog. BUT! Its not JUST about the weight loss. Its about the whole journey to get where I want to be-- the workouts, the meals, the occasional craft, the dog snuggling, etc.
