About Me Series: Goose!

Good morning guys!! I thought it was about time for another "about me" post since I've been nominated again for one of the blogging awards.  To be honest, I don't like doing those awards.  I don't feel like my readers REALLY get to know me.  So I came up with an even better idea which was to throw together some of the things that really define me-- my favorite things .. about me!! This is literally my favorite post that I've written to date.   Sorry for the picture explosion-- No I'm not.

Today I'm bringing you the man that melted my heart.

Goose.

I haven't done one since my post about my love (read: Obsession) with my Jeep-y.

So another thing I'm really passionate for is my sisters dog Goose.

Goose, meet my followers, Followers-- Goose.

Goose is a Vizsla, which is a Hungarian hunting dog.  These dogs are known for a few things:
  1. Their extremely high energy levels
  2. Need for attention
  3. Their need to be Velcro dogs.

I'll explain these a little more in a second but lets get to the story of my little man.

My sister and brother in law decided shortly after they bought a house they wanted a dog.  My sister, being an avid marathon runner knew she wanted a dog that could keep up with her high running demands.  She researched for a few months.  A close friend had recently gotten a German Shorthair Pointer (named Luna).

Readers Meet Luna-- Luna meet my readers!

This picture was taken last week and I couldn't help but add it!!.  Anyway, they took her running, hiking and walking all over.  My sister then got the bright idea to get a Vizsla.  As soon as they found a breeder they loved, they put a deposit down and patiently waited.

In the early summer, the found out Mama Vizsla was preggo.  Mama V was going to have 10 little puppies one of them being Goosey!

On August 30th Goose was born "Gunner" with all 9 of his brothers and sisters.
Winking Stud

Goose stayed with the breeder until October 29th.  It wasn't idea timing for Goose to come home.  Goose came home October 29th and my sister was getting married November 3rd.  Needless to say, my mom and I got many panicked calls saying that Goose wouldn't stop crying at night and they HAD to sleep before the wedding.  Understandable-- That shits important.

My sister and Brother in law got married on Saturday, had a wedding brunch on Sunday and left for St. Lucia on Monday morning.

Guess who got to watch the brand new pup for 10 days all by herself.

THIS CHICK.

Like I said before, Vizsla's are known to become "velcro" with only a few people. And when I mean velcro I mean the whole 9 yards--

 Melting Your heart:

Yes, he does has a big mouth full of my hair in his mouth.  He loves his Auntie Lex

Those 10 days with Goose were literally some of the best 2 weeks of 2012.

When they left for vacation, they had requested 1 thing.  That I teach Goose how to sit.

Bitch please.

I taught that dog to sit, lay down, stay, Give 5 to my right hand (with his left hand), and vice versa.   Go big or go home kids.

I seriously had so much fun spending those days with him and felt SO attached to him.  I literally looked forward to my day being over so I could take him for a walk, feed him, train him, and finally snuggle and then do it all again in a few hours.  A few days before they got back I was having a really hard time with the idea of leaving and not seeing Goosey everyday.  I'd have to settle with just seeing him once or twice a week.  It was sad.

I realized shortly after they got back from vacation that I would be able to spend the needed time with him because my sister and hubby work A LOT.   And sometimes the same odd shifts which leaves Goose with no one to take care of him.  So they need me!!

Goose and I have formed a special bond-- and while I know he's not MY dog, I often refer to him as MY dog because I literally love him so much (is this pathetic that I love this dog so much?-- Don’t care)  I take a lot of pictures of him because he is literally like my child.  Most of my instagram's and the pictures on my phone are Goose.

Okay, Okay-- because you asked GOOSEY PHOTO OVERLOAD-- sorted by Goosey Style:

Now do you all get why I am SO obsessed with this little guy!? Is he not seriously the cutest dog ever?

Goose was not always Goose.  Originally his name was Gunner.  But they knew that Gunner just wouldn't work.  Goose actually got his name from top gun.  Yes you heard that right.  Its sort of a sad story-- my Brother in laws best friend had a sugar glider-- that's a type of squirrel I'm pretty sure. Anyway, the friend ended up passing away from a diabetic coma.  BIL had promised this friend that they would get matching pets and game them Maverick and Goose.  Maverick was the sugar glider-- so when they got a dog it was obviously going to be Goose.  The name REALLY fits the dog.  Its such a silly name and hes such a silly dog!

Goose has the biggest personality of a dog I've ever seen.  He's the goofiest dog in the world.  Hes literally the snuggliest (is that a word? No? okay now it is) dogs I've ever met and by far one of the smartest.  Dude can pick up on a trick after being taught only a few times.  Hes so smart.

Anyway, even though I don't live with Goose and I don't get to see him AS much as I would like, he and I still have an awesome bond.  He still jumps for joy when I come over and picks me over my sister or BIL when choosing people to snuggle with (which I absolutely LOVE).  Hes my little man and he melts my heart.

Do you have a dog?

Are you as attached with your dog as I am with Goose?

  1. Awwwww! I babysat for a family that had a Vizsla and they definitely love their attention. I loved reading all about the Goose man. It's tough when you bond so much with a dog that isn't yours, but at least you still get to help take care of him and see him quite a bit.

I do have a dog, Bo who is a Gordon Setter. I am definitely attached to him. I can't imagine going away from a whole week and not being able to see him and snuggle with him and take care of him. I really can't imagine not being around him everyday when the time comes for me to move out either. He's my parents' dog so he will not be moving out with me which is sad. Sigh...guess I'll just enjoy the time I have at home with him. Just like Goose melts your heart, Bo melts mine.

  4. I have my sheppard mix named Molly.. She is my absolute joy! She adopted my family about a month and a half ago and claimed me as her human. She has a devilish streak a mile wide and loves to play at completely inappropriate times (no love, you need to potty at 3am, not play with mommy. I love her to pieces!
