So, I'm not sure that I've addressed this on my blog lately or even yet, but school is expensive. I'm not talking grad school(which is still expensive.). Im talking undergrad. I've racked up a fairly high debt from going 5 years to a private school.
My parents are really awesome and are letting me live with them while I attempt to pay it back. My plan as of right now, because I do not have any other expenses except grad school, is to literally put 97% of my pay into paying off my loans. For like 4 or so years. By then ill hopefully have my grad school done and will have gotten some promotions( fingers crossed!!)
Anyway, I've put myself on a very strict budget in order to meet the financial goals I want. Every penny I spend I track. That's why I'm thinking about getting a 3rd or 4th job (depending on how you count my summer jobs. Originally I thought working in a mall would be good-- I'd get the sales perks and would be making money at the same time. Unfortunately this option kinda scared me with grad school and the amount of time I want to spend with my family.
The next option I've looked into is selling scentsy. For anyone that doesn't now, its basically room fresheners, specializing in wickless candles (aka wax Warner's) I'm not totally sold on the idea yet but I really wondered if I started doing it if any of my far and few between blogging besties would be interested in buying from me. I obviously want it to be successful if I do start selling so I need to scope out my potential selling options. The reason I liked the idea of selling scentsy is because I am able to own an online shop which I can do sales through (which I thought would be a good ideas). Anyway, this isn't a promise that you'll buy from me by any means, I just want to see if anyone you know uses scentsy, and if you think yourself or they would be willing to buy from me.
If you think I'm a total loon you can tell me that too!!! Give me some input people!!

Jack Reacher
Yesterday was an very relaxing day for me. Every year around Christmas the BF and his family go to see a movie with his aunt and uncle-- followed by yummy dinner.

This year we went to see Jack Reacher-- specifically because the movie was filmed in Pittsburgh. I loved seeing our city in a big movie. There have been some significant perks to film makers to use Pennsylvania as the setting for new movies so its becoming more of a common thing. There was a scene in the movie I was recalling looking forward to because I saw it being filmed at 2 am from my apartment windows when I was still at Duquesne. Granted they did edit some of it out, it was still really cool to know I watched that filming and now it's on the big screen.
We then went to UNOs to eat dinner. Man was that yummy. Of course everyone at more than they rightfully should. It was just so delicious and we all got caught up in conversations.
I then spend the rest of my night at my sisters house.. Real shocker there. We cuddled with the puppy and waited for her to get home while the brother in law wrote thank you notes from the wedding. Yikes.

2013-- A Year About Me.
I've been trying to decide for some time now what my new years resolution(s) should be. I’m not really fond of new year’s resolutions. I’m not really sure why. Probably because of the failed attempts to keep them.
Anyway, I’ve been thinking long and hard about what I want to do. At first I said, “I’ll run a race every month.” Lets be honest here. 1. It’s a great goal to say, but I really don’t think I can financially afford to run a race every month. 2. I wouldn't be able to run a 5k by January so I’d already be failing at my goal.
I wanted to create something that I feel like I can actually do—and something with a little more flexibility than that. I wanted a challenge but rewards as well.
The Idea:
I’ve decided that 2013 is all about me and my health. It’s time to take control and figure this out. I’ve decided to create a self-challenge to lose this weight, set with rewards by month. I’ve given myself a bonus gift for losing more than the goal. The key to this is I want to do this the healthy way and not crash diet or extreme diet to get to these numbers. If I’m finding that these numbers are too ambitious within the first couple of weeks, I will be modifying this. I need to keep reminding myself that this isn't really about the numbers, it’s about getting healthy. I’m not really sure about how low I want my weight to be. I’ve never been in the 150’s that I can remember so I honestly have no idea what I’ll look like.
The Plan:
Here’s my excel (Read: NERD) of my weight loss goals so far.
Help me pick some Loss Gifts and Bonus Gifts!!
The Motivation:
There were a few things that really motivated me to decide to challenge myself in 2013. The first was a good friend say in passing, “2012 was about me…” It really hit home. What year is going to be about me? Making myself better? In 2012 she lost 50 pounds! She looks crazy good now! I want to be that person.
Another motivator is the vacations this summer. I’m going on two vacations. One with my family, and one with my friends (assuming I can get the right PTO off). I want to wear a cute bathing suit and have fun. Not be the bigger girl on the beach.
Part of the reason I started this is because I remembered back in March when I first started eating low carb. I literally challenged myself one day at a time. If I ate low carb yesterday, why would I not eat low carb today? Basically that kept going until we went on a cruise. I want to do that again with this challenge. One day at a time. I know there will be days when I wont be able to eat low carb, or wont want to. But I really do want to try to keep a streak going.
I am participating in Operation Red Bikini with some other bloggers. You can grab the button on the side bar to the right and join with us. I plan to continue my weight loss posts. However I feel like that’s probably best suited to start on a Monday. I want to also do some Monthly progress post to really sum up where I am in my challenge. I hope your follow and encourage me along this journey!
BUCKLE UP! We’re going for a ride!
What Loss Gift/Bonus Gift would you recommend?

Puppy Paw Ornaments!
So probably one of my first "Craft" posts of my new blog, and I'm so excited to share it with you guys!
So August 29th, 2012 my sister and brother-in-law's dog-- Goose was born.

He's literally been growing so quickly since the day they got him. They got Goosey 4 days before they got married, and then two days after they were married they went on their honeymoon. So It's been my responsibility tohang out babysit him. He's seriously enough to melt your heart. Check out my "Goosey Gram" category, follow me on instagram (Antoszewskia) or simply search the hashtags #DailyGoose or #GooseyGram in instagram to see how amazingly cute he is!
As I am a recent grad I have a TON of debt, and I'm attempting to pay off all of my loans as quickly as possible. This wont leave much money for myself over the next three years but in the end I think it is the most financially responsible way to do it.
ANYWAY.
A combination of Goosey's cuteness and my lacking finances and my consistent urge to craft 24/7 has brought me to make puppy paw ornaments. I figured this would be the cutest way to capture Goosey's little paws (although, I'm not sure if dogs paws really grow... don't they grow into them?.. who knows.) Anyway decided to be the cute Auntie and make My sister and Brother in law (and myself... and my parents) cute Goosey puppy paw ornaments.
Items you will need:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1/2 cup water
1 mixing bowl
1 make shift rolling pin
1 willing hand to mix

oh yeah... and one dog.

The steps:
1. Add water to a bowl. Mix 1/2 cup of salt.

2. Mix 1 cup of Flour into the mix.

3. Mix well with your hands

4. Add flour to the surface you'll be rolling on (In this case a cutting board). Use your makeshift rolling pin (aka a wooden spoon) or if its actually your house-- your own rolling pin to create a 1/4 inch dough piece

5. Grab the closest puppy and press their paw into the dough. Don't forget the toe nails.. puppy toe nails are the cutest!

*At this point if you mess up or don't like the puppy paw feel free to ball up your dough again and and start over. I did this a few times the first try.
6. Grab a cup (preferably clear) to place over the dough. Press lightly to make a minor indent to see if your circle is centered. Once your circle is centered around the paw press hard until the cup has cut through the dough. Use a toothpick to create a hole in the top for a string.

*note if your "cookie" is stuck in the cup press one piece of it further into the cup. Once some air has gotten into the cup it should release with no problems
**Note: now would be the last time to make any changes to the ornament so think about inscribing "2012" "Goosey" "Best dog ever" " I love my auntie" on the ornament if so desired with a toothpick. Wish I had thought to do this..
7. Pop those babies on some parchment paper on 250 degrees in the oven for 2 hours.
8. When the ornament is completely dry stick a string through the hole created earlier and your done!
These ornaments went over great with the family! They absolutely loved them. I wrote on the back of it "Made with Love on 11/25/12 with Goose and Lex"

Weight loss... errr.. Thursday!
Because my Dietbet started on a Thursday, Weight Loss Wednesday has turned into Weight loss... err.. Thursday!
Weight Loss this week: 5 Lbs
Total Weight Loss: 15.7 Lbs
[caption id="attachment_389" align="aligncenter" width="450"]
Snowman weight loss[/caption]
Success of the week: I think losing 5 lbs in the first week was a great success. I'm already 56% of the way to accomplishing my goal for the Holidy Body Makeover diet bet. I'm pretty proud of myself this week because I tried to stick as closely as I could to low carb the whole week. I had a few slip ups (staying at my sisters house), but I managed to eat low carb at a holiday party which I consider a success!
Challenge of the week: I think the challenge this week was trying to pick low carb options at the holiday party. It was really difficult to not just want to eat everything in sight at the party, especially with all the sugary candy floating around. I kept my hands amused by making little ornaments for my coworkers so that I wouldn't eat the junk.
Areas of improvement: I think the area that I need to improve on is sticking to low carb all the time. Its very easy to just switch off low carb and start eating other things. If I want low carb to work I need to stay focused and don't stray off the planned path.
Win of the week: Since I've been eating low carb-- I haven't had swollen toes at all. Not even once. Nope!
Today will be another challenge to see if I can stay low carb. I'm going to another holiday party tonight for my moms work. It's at the Haughbrauh house, which is german food. I'm hoping that I can find some kind of protein and a vegetable in the buffet and stay away from the grains.

Challenge Accepted
Fact: I need more Jeans.
Fact: I'm over weight
Goal: Fit into these jeans.

I bought these jeans a long time ago. Probably over a year ago. I found them in a heap of clothes (Read: I need to clean my room).
I will fit into these jeans. I'm not sure when. But it will happen. I can't really remember the last time I fit into a size 10 pants.
I'm going to throw a challenge date out there. April 1st.--to fit into these jeans.
My thought process is maybe if I put it out there, just like my Dietbet games that it will keep me motivated enough to keep going and accomplish things

Macro madness
Well kids-- I spent a long time last night formatting, coding, writing and rewriting the code to my macro.
I've done it!!
It finally runs all the sheets that I need it to and displays the data perfectly!! I feel so proud of this spreadsheet. I'm guessing this macro (program) that runs in literally under 15 seconds -- saves me about an hours worth of work every week. A hour doesn't seem like a huge amount of time until you have a million other things you need to work on. Granted there is still a little but of prep work that has to be done but I'm really anxious to see how much time is really saves me. I'm presenting it to my boss again. He's a seriously brainy guy. Literally one of the smartest people I have EVER met. I'm sure he'll have things he knows could work better but he's been really good showing me what I did and how it can be done better. (And I think I still get bonus points for doing it on my own and taking the initiative to do it!)
I would offer to show you what my macro actually does but I think I'd bore in all by clicking "open". You'd be clicking right off my page!!
~subject change~
I still have a 100% in my online class which I'm pretty psyched about. I kinda slacked last week and waited until the last minute to do my homework. Whoops. So I hope I did it correctly and analyzed everything thoroughly.

Talk Nerdy To Me
I'm writing this post from my car. (No I'm not driving.-- well if you consider sitting in ligit stand still traffic sure I'm driving.)
Anyways. I had one of those seriously awesome days when you realize why you have the job you have. I've been assigned the new task of inputting all the meaningful use statistics into a spreadsheet for 12 of our hospitals. For those of you non healthcare people, meaningful use is basically a ways for hospitals to get literally millions of dollars for showing the government that they are making meaningful use of their data. Anywho, we've been manually inputting this Information for over a year now, every week 12 hospitals and 10 measures-- LOTS of money and wasted time.
When I get my 6 month evaluation my boss challenged me to take some projects on myself and show more coding ability. So I challenged myself to write an excel macro that would allow me to pull all the numbers we previously had to hand key, and output them nicely on our spreadsheet.
Well kids, I did it! I showed my boss and he was super shocked and super excited at my ability to save a good deal of time! Currently the macro can only do one of the 10 tabs but making the other 9 should be a cakewalk compared to making the first.
I loved doing this project because it was challenging yet still doable for someone of my code level. I got out of work basically skipping to my car. I'm actually excited to go home and start working on it some more to see if I can crack the last 9 pieces of the puzzle!

25 Days of Blogging-- Christmas Challenge
Best gift I've given:
I think the best gift I've given, as lame as it sounds is my mom her laptop. She was so excited when she finally got one. Everyone in the whole family got one years before, and she complained even until right before we gave it to her that she was the only person without a gift! It was super hilarious for her to open it and see a laptop in there!

The good news and bad...
Okay, okay so which would you like to have first? Good or Bad?!
hmm.
Good it is. Good news is that I can now follow all your lovely blogs without freaking wordpress shutting down my blog reading. Super irritating. It wouldn't load all the blogs, or if it would it would load them randomly through out the day so I'd have to scroll like back and forth multiple times per day. SUPER annoying. (and super fascinating I know).
Bad news is: My Wordpress has been doing something goofy for the last few days, and I've been irritated with it. So I switched to reading your blogs via Google Reader-- Google.com/reader . Its awesome, but now for some reason I can't leave comments as "LifebyLex.com" I have to leave them as my google account which has got to change. I love you all but I don't need some rando's spamming my personal email account (note: you all are not the rando's-- I mean Rando's like fake people. )
anyway, so my solution is to either get a LifebyLex gmail or figure this whole buznach out.
HAVE A WONDERFUL LUNCH!!
PS: what the Frenchtoast is up with this super bendy spoon!? Hows a girl supposed to eat her Jello!?

25 Days of Blogging-- Christmas Challenge
Day 14
Artificial or Real Tree:
My family has done a real tree once. We got it because when you bought the tree you got free Penguins tickets. True life.
I like doing an artificial tree. I've never had that "awesome" experience of going to chop down your own tree. Spare me. I'll just pull the box out of my garage and watch me some Elf while I put it up!
